Out and About

There is plenty to do in the quiets of Amish Country.  Please see the list below of some of our closest attractions and must-see establishments.  Whether you are looking for a great cup of coffee, a memento from your visit, an exciting adventure, or touring colleges, our area can accommodate.

Westminster College - 4 Miles

We are Westminster College. We’re closer than you think, nestled within the charming town of New Wilmington, just one hour north of Pittsburgh. We study hard, priding ourselves in strong academics, outstanding faculty, and individualized attention with our 12:1 student to faculty ratio. We expand horizons with opportunities to study abroad and make connections with our strong alumni base.

The Apple Castle - 4 Miles

The Apple Castle is a sixth generation family farm. Located in the heart of Western Pennsylvania’s Amish Country, we have been growing quality fruit since 1861.

For over 150 years our family has been providing our community with quality apples. We also grow our own peaches, nectarines, blueberries, raspberries, sweet corn, plums, asparagus, rhubarb, winter squash and pumpkins.

Open year round with sweet cider, homemade donuts, and lots of unique farm market items!

The Butler Institute - 14 Miles

The Butler is located in Youngstown, Ohio, in Mahoning County, and receives no revenues from the city or county. The Butler charges no admission fee at the main location or at its branch museum, and relies on contributions from the community and the nation to meet its cultural mission.

Founded in 1919 by Joseph G. Butler, Jr., the Butler Institute is the first museum of American art. The original structure, dedicated in 1919, is a McKim, Mead and White architectural masterpiece listed on the National Register of Historic places. The Butler’s mission is to preserve and collect works of art in all media created by citizens of our country. The Institute’s holdings now exceed 20,000 individual works, and the Butler is known worldwide as “America’s Museum.”
